Rosé + Tacos = The Perfect Summer Afternoon

Rosé + Tacos = The Perfect Summer Afternoon

  • Traynor Vineyards

Nothing says summer like a cool glass of Rosé out on the patio, which is why Traynor is so excited for our newest release just in time for the summer weather — introducing our 100% Gamay Noir Rosé! With a nose of candied strawberry and a lingering fruity finish, the team knew we nailed the perfect summer sipper.

Traynor has made Rosé in the past, but they have typically been made from Cabernet Franc fruit. The team (and customers!) have been enjoying the Rosé Pét-Nat so much over the past few years, which is made from Gamay Noir, so the team decided to give it a try for the table wine version of Rosé — and here we are!

The grapes were hand-harvested overnight in Niagara Peninsula and transported to Prince Edward County and straight to Traynor the following morning. The fruit macerated for 36 hours before being whole cluster pressed. It settled quickly, and then racked off the lees to ensure a fruitier, brighter style of Rosé. The team then let the wine ferment and age in stainless steel until it clarified naturally — giving the wine its rosy glow.

The wine is perfect on its own with friends, solo with a good book, or to pair with your favourite summer dish. As soon as this Rosé was bottled we already knew which local spot we’d be ordering takeout from to enjoy it with. Tacos anyone? Rosé and light tacos are a classic and you really can’t go wrong — especially if you’re ordering from La Condesa in Wellington, just a short drive away from the vineyard. From the guacamole and chips to the fish tacos and tuna tostado, you will be totally transported with every bite and sip of this combination.

This is a must-visit when in Prince Edward County, but it can get quite busy in the summer months. So, you don’t want to get a case of FOMO, the takeout option is just as delicious as eating it on their patio or in their beautifully decorated interior (check out the mural in the back!) Once you have your takeout secured, may we suggest swinging by the winery and sipping on this light and refreshing Rosé and enjoy a picnic right out in the vineyard? Sounds like the perfect afternoon in the County to us!

We can’t wait to welcome back guests — we have a feeling this Rosé will quickly become a fan favourite this year.
