Free outdoor family movies, every Friday at 7pm. June 26 through September 18, 2026.
What This Is
Every Friday evening from late June through mid-September, we set up a projector under the Covered Patio, put on a family-friendly movie, and turn on the popcorn machine. There's no ticket. There's no admission fee. There's no "minimum food purchase." Bring the kids. Bring a blanket. Sit on the patio. Watch the movie.
This isn't a fundraiser, a marketing stunt, or an upsell. It's a thing we're doing because families need somewhere fun and affordable to land on a Friday night, and Prince Edward County doesn't really have a lot of that.

What's Showing in 2026
Twelve weekly Fridays, plus an Audience Choice Encore to close out the season. We programmed it to grow with the kids in the room — Lego launches, Wonka mid-summer, School of Rock and Harry Potter to ease the back-to-school sting.
The Lego Movie
An ordinary Lego minifigure, mistaken for "the Special," is pulled into a wild animated adventure across brick-built worlds. Fast, funny, smart. Safe for the whole family.
PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie
The pups gain superpowers from a magic meteor and have to stop Mayor Humdinger from causing chaos. Bright, gentle, perfect for the smallest moviegoers.
Rio
A rare blue macaw raised in Minnesota travels to Brazil to find love and discovers Carnival. Animated, musical, brightly tropical — pairs well with the slushie menu.
Wonka
Young Willy Wonka arrives in town with big dreams and a knack for magical chocolate. Live action musical, charming and gently zany. Leans on imagination over scares.
The Goonies
A 1985 classic. A group of kids in a small Oregon town follow a pirate treasure map to save their neighborhood. Mild peril and some 80s-style language — best for older kids, but a nostalgia hit for parents.
A Minecraft Movie
Four misfits get pulled into the cube-shaped world of Minecraft and have to use their wits to get home. A 2025 release with cinema-ready energy for the gaming crowd.
Scooby-Doo
The 2002 live-action film. Mystery Inc. arrives at Spooky Island to crack a paranormal case. Mild comedy spookiness — fine for most kids but expect a couple of jump-scares.
Night at the Museum
A down-on-his-luck museum night guard discovers the exhibits come alive after dark. Ben Stiller family comedy, visually playful and safe across ages.
The Sandlot
Summer 1962. A new kid in town joins a scrappy neighborhood baseball squad and gets caught up in the legend of "The Beast" behind the fence. End-of-summer nostalgia in film form.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
Greg Heffley's summer vacation goes sideways. Light, funny, and squarely aimed at the middle-school crowd. Back-to-school comfort food.
School of Rock
Jack Black, posing as a substitute teacher, secretly transforms a class of straight-A fifth graders into a rock band. Mild language and big heart — older kids and parents both love this one.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
The first wizarding film. Harry discovers he's a wizard and starts at Hogwarts. Long runtime (2.5 hours) — bring extra blankets and snacks; younger kids may need a midway break.
Audience Choice Encore
We tally votes through the season. Whichever night packed the patio hardest comes back for the encore. Vote at the bar or on Instagram all summer.
Schedule subject to change due to weather, licensing windows, or audience whim. Follow @traynorvineyard for the week's confirmed pick. Movies cancel for thunderstorms — we'll post by 5pm on Instagram on the day. Indoor backup in the Cellar Tasting Room for the most committed families.

Why We're Doing This
Prince Edward County is a beautiful place to live and visit, but if you've got kids, your Friday-night options are limited. Most restaurants want quiet adults. Most wineries want quiet adults. The few family-friendly things shut down at dinner time. We have the space, we have the projector, and we have a Covered Patio that's perfect for this. So we're doing it.
You don't need to buy anything to show up. We hope you'll grab a hot dog or a wine slushie while you're here, because that's how we keep doing this. But it's not a requirement.
Practical Stuff
- Reservations? No reservation needed. Show up anytime from 6:30pm.
- Big group? If you want to bring a birthday party or a family reunion (10+ people), shoot us a note at retail@traynorvineyard.com so we can plan space.
- Accessibility: The Covered Patio is wheelchair accessible.
- Free parking: Yes, on-site.
Coming From a Day at the Beach?
Movie nights pair perfectly with a Sandbanks or North Beach day. Beach in the morning, lunch on our patio (hot dogs, ceviche bowls, wine slushies for the grown-ups), kids play area for an hour, then movie at 7pm. Full Friday in PEC, total budget around $40-60 for a family of four including food.
From Sandbanks Provincial Park: 25 minutes. From North Beach: 15 minutes. From Wellington: 5 minutes.
