Product Description: 5th Element is our skin-contact orange wine — Ontario's pioneering style since 2013. A vibrant, straw-coloured white made from 90% Vidal and 10% Frontenac Blanc, cold-soaked on the skins for 10 days before pressing. Wild-fermented, unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes: Lifted aromas of orange peel, dried apricot, and wildflower honey. Textural and layered on the palate with notes of candied citrus, ginger, and tea-like tannins, balanced by bright acidity and a dry finish.
Winemaker's Notes: Aiming for a fun light orange wine, we knew Vidal would be the base — used in many of our favourite summer wines, it provides the bright citrus flavours we wanted as the backbone. Frontenac Blanc is an incredibly aromatic grape; a little goes a long way. We found just the right amount to blend in to achieve the tropical quality we wanted on the nose without being overpowering. Both varietals were cold-soaked on the skins for 10 days before gently pressing to reduce tannin. Once pressed, these wines completed a very cold fermentation, which brought out the tropical nose. They were blended just before bottling. Wild fermented, bottled unfined and unfiltered, ready for a summer patio.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should I serve 5th Element?
5th Element is flexible. Cooler (5–8°C) brings out its bright refreshing side; warmer (10–15°C) opens up the aromatics and softens the palate. A larger universal wine glass helps the orange-wine character show.
What food pairs well with 5th Element?
Roasted vegetables (eggplant, carrots, zucchini), creamy pastas and cheesy breads, dishes with fresh herbs like cilantro and parsley, and mild-spice cuisines. Orange wines bridge white and red — they handle bolder food than most whites.
What is orange wine? Is this vegan?
Orange wine is white grapes fermented on their skins (like a red wine) — that's where the amber colour and gentle tannin come from. Ours is 90% Vidal, 10% Frontenac Blanc, cold-soaked on skins for 10 days. 11% ABV. Vegan. VQA Ontario, 2025 vintage. Wild-fermented, unfined and unfiltered.
How long will 5th Element keep after opening?
Screw cap — re-cap tight and refrigerate. 3–5 days. The natural tannin structure helps it hold up better than a typical white.
Where can I buy 5th Element?
Direct at the winery, online at traynorvineyard.com (Ontario only), and at select restaurants. Coming soon to the LCBO — we'll update this page with the CSPC once it's listed.
