Winemakers Notes:

Piquette; a “little wine” made by the addition of water and sugar to the pomace left after pressing grapes or wine

2020 was our second year making Piquette and as always we learned a little bit the first time and mixed it up a bit.  What is the difference this time?

1) This time we decided to add some local Apple Cider into the blend instead of straight rainwater.  We added at a rate of 1/3 of the volume of the wine.  This allowed us to reduce the amount of sugar and acid we add into the blend and we were hoping that it would also give the wine a little more concentration.

2) We made more red wine in 2020 than we did in 2019, so this one is a little darker then the previous version.  The grapes used this year include; Gamay Noir, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Vidal, Marquette, and Syrah.

3) We changed the bottle and put a crown cap on it instead of using a screw cap.  I think it looks a little cooler.
