Pet-Nat, short for Petillant Naturel, is a traditional method of making sparkling wine that predates the more commonly used methode champenoise. This ancient method utilizes the natural fermentation process that occurs in the bottle to create bubbles, rather than a secondary fermentation process like in traditional sparkling wine production. This method was used for centuries before the invention of modern wine production techniques.

Traynor Family Vineyard is a pioneer in the Canadian natural wine scene and was among the first Canadian wineries to begin producing Pet-Nat wines. Our wines are hand bottled at the very end of fermentation and allowed to carbonate the wine utilizing natural grape sugars. This results in a wine that is more unpredictable and rustic than traditional sparkling wines, but also more unique and exciting.
