We decided it would be a good idea to put together a package of different styles of wine made from the same grape. We currently have four wines made from the Chardonnay grape. All of them are remarkably different. We have a fifth underway, but it isn't quite ready yet.
When you compare the variety of styles we have produced from the same grape variety it amazes how flexible the chardonnay grape is. While much of the work we do is terroir-based, a package like this put the wine method forward. This set shows the influence of winemaking on the process.
1) Chardonnay- Our Barrel Fermented Chardonnay. Slight oak and lees influence. Slightly heavier and rounded than the Unoaked Chardonnay.
2) Unoaked Chardonnay- Light and breezy. Tropical and aromatic. This wine accentuates the vibrancy of the fruit.
3) Pet-Nat- This pet-nat is bottle fermented utilizing the natural sugars in the fruit. Enjoy the light fizz and vibrant aromatics. 85% Chardonnay, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Vidal.
4) 5th Element- The most isosteric of all our wines. We only produce 27 cases/year (one barrel). This wine is non-vintage (we blend subsequent years in a solera system) and made from skin-fermented fruit. A truly unique wine. Aromatic, soft, rich, round, and fantastic. 80% Chardonnay, 20% Sauvignon Blanc.
